Tying a fly called HKA Sunray (Bismó)
Fly Tying Tutorial From Ívar’s Fly Workshop
Here we will be tying the Bismó tubefly. The Bismó is as I understand it a variation of the Sunray Shadow fly.
The Bimsó can be tied with blue, white, green, pink, and all sorts of colours for the underwing. The fly is a great option when it comes to fishing for Atlantic Salmon and is really popular for it.
It requires advanced tying skills for it and a needle to hold the tube. It took me a few times to get it flawless in the way I wanted it to look. When making the Bismó I strongly recommend to tie like 5-10 of them and work all of them step by step.
Begin with the mylar piping of all of them, tie the wings on all of them, and then finish all of them with the job to put on the eyes. Great fly and works both for salmon and sea trout.

Hello there, My name is Ívar Örn Hauksson and I’m an Icelandic enthusiast about fly fishing and fly tying. I lived almost my whole life in Iceland and have been doing flyfishing and fly tying since I was about 10 years old. I learned and was narrated by two of the most talented fly tiers in the country, Jón Sigurðsson and Jón Pedersen. I am a lawyer by education and an Ahrex Pro Team member. The goal with my new channel is to preserve Icelandic flies and related knowledge as well as guidance. The channel also opens up the world of Icelandic fly tying for beginners in Iceland and abroad.
