Tying a fly called Haugur

It’s Salmon Saturday! Here we will be tying the fly Haugur by Sigurður Héðinn or Siggi Haugur like we call him here in Iceland. Siggi is an Icelandic angler and guide who has vast experience from his fishing career. The fly was published for the public in the year 2000 and has been indeed one of Iceland’s best-designed salmon flies and is know to work everywhere the wild Atlantic salmon is caught.

The pattern is simple and not too difficult to tie. I have used the Haugur fly a few times and it gave me fish. I can fully recommend the fly and remember, it’s an all Icelandic pattern that I’m proud to share with the rest of the world.
