Day 9 – 356 Days of Trout

“Crowded and Stressed”

The spawning beds often get very crowded for rainbow trout in spring.

Notice the large male rainbow in the centers. His skin is covered with a white cottony substance, which is a fungus thought to be caused by stress.

The spawning males are stressed by constantly chasing away challengers.
