Day 72 - Ill-Fated Fish

She became trapped in a borrow pit after a planned high water flush of the Missouri River below Holter Dam.

The urge to spawn was greater than her need to seek cover. She swam to the shallows, where a small seep provided flowing water for her eggs.

I saw her from the bank and placed my cameras to capture photos and videos of her.

Then, I sat on the bank with my best friend while the cameras ran. Out of the sky behind us, an osprey swooped down, grabbed her, and flew away. 

We were less than 10' from the kidnapping and subsequent murder of this ill-fated trout.
