Saffron, a cutthroat trout, spends a quiet moment alone by the roots of a submerged cottonwood tree.

The subject of many images, she is one of two large trout who inhabited the rootball before the river changed course.

The main channel now sweeps past the snag. While she may still live there, I seldom drive past without seeing an angler plying the spot.
