Day 20 - Surface Sippers

The surface sippers are my favorite! Maybe not the photo, but who they are!

In my home waters of Rock Creek, they appear in early winter - tiny rings on the surface. I imagine this is the time of year when the small trout feel safe enough to eat the snow midges on the surface. 

I just love seeing the dimples on the river in winter.
