Day 12 – 356 Days of Trout

“Day 12 - Sunny Day by the Root Ball”

Sunlight pierces the depths on a cold winter's day at the submerged root ball.

A cutthroat trout, along with a brown and a rainbow, find protection from predators in the tangle of roots.

I wonder how many flies these roots have caught?

The cutthroat is my girl Saffron. I photographed her for 5 years. The river changed course, and I haven’t been able to find her again. She’ll appear often in the 365 Days of Trout.
