Day 100 – 356 Days of Trout

Day 100 - Supply and Demand

A Common Merganser peers into the water in search of Rainbow Trout eggs.

On this day, a group of 4 merganser ducks scoured the stream bed, eating trout eggs while the trout spawned.

They ruthlessly devoured eggs and moved trout off their redds.

I was quite shocked when I saw these images and will have more to come during the 365 Days of Trout.
